Hello,
Happy autumn! If you're like me, you get super busy in autumn... so I will keep this short and sweet! Just a monthly update here to share about what's new at my office. We are welcoming two new therapists, and thanks to these new additions we now offer 7 days per week of availability for therapy and coaching appointments!
Also, if you haven't "read" my audiobook on dating (produced by Scott Scheratt, the same man who does Oprah's books!), you can now get it free through a special program below. If you've already read it, you are eligible for an alternative gift.... see below for details! *Even if you're in a relationship, please consider sharing with someone who is single!:)
I'd also LOVE your input on my book title. My publisher, Macmillan Publishers, is helping me bring my perspective to the world with a GLOBAL release in HARDCOVER with a new book on my work with high functioning people. The book contains 9 of my favorite techniques on how high functioning people (aka YOU!) can use their mental gifts for maximum enjoyment and fulfillment. We're tossing around some titles. If you'd weigh in with your thoughts by clicking a response on the poll below, I'd be grateful!
Ok I promised I'd keep this short + sweet, so I'll sign out... but as always please feel free to hit "reply" on this email and share any comments or suggestions, or just general updates on your life-- if you're a former client reading this, please know I love hearing quick updates on how your life is going!:)
Yours,
Dr. Chloe Carmichael PhD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Well, there was actually so much content this time that we didn't have room for the digital space a welcome video requires... but if you really miss the welcome video let me know so I can try to prioritize it for the October issue!:)

Is 'The One' Real — And How Do I Know If I Found Them?
You're gonna want to read this from beginning to end.
Ah, "The One."
Fairytales and rom-coms have long perpetuated the idea that there's this one single person in the universe who's destined to be your forever partner, your soul mate, but as a relationship therapist, I'm here to tell you that's not the case. But wait—it's a good thing!
I'm not even talking the whole cliché "there's so many fish in the sea," "it's a numbers game," argument. I'm taking an even more realistic approach, which I actually find incredibly settling.
10 Signs You're In A One-Sided Relationship — And How To Fix It
Some aren't so obvious.
There are times in life when a relationship is so one-sided, you can just feel it. The high school best friend who stopped trying to hang with you once she got a boyfriend, the cat that hissed at you whenever you tried to hug it, the lab partner who bailed every time it was their turn to lead a project.
But other times, especially in the world of adult romantic relationships, things are lot—and I mean a lot—murkier. Sorry! I don't make the rules. The problem is that when two people come together, they each carry desires, expectations, and boundaries...and when any of those are mismatched or not clearly defined, chaos tends to ensue.
Quotes and Tips on Mental Health
Take This Mental Health Challenge With Kristen Bell
One of my quotes:
“If we don't have a way of consciously shutting off our to-do list, we run the risk of constantly feeling like were on the hamster wheel."
The Problem With Suggesting Exercise For Depression
One of my quotes:
"For many people, their depression is worse in the morning. So I tell them to start with a very cold or very hot shower … it overwhelms them on a sensory level."

How to Accept Your Partner's Past
While it’s not always easy, accepting your partner’s past is part of any relationship. Whether you’re hung up on their past relationships or concerned about mistakes they’ve made, try to remain objective. Remember that everyone has baggage, and you can’t erase the past. Aside from major red flags, like cheating on all of their exes or a history of violence, give them the benefit of the doubt. Focus on how your partner treats you in the present, and work on developing a trusting relationship with them.
How to Bear a Job That You Hate
You hate your job. First, consider whether you are in a position to quit and/or find another job. It may not be easy, but you can always get free. If you can't change your circumstances, then find a way to change your perspective. Learn from the situation, stay positive, and try to focus on the present. Slowly but surely build up your resume and find another job.
How to Attract Better Men
It’s tempting to give up on dating if you can’t seem to find any good men. When you keep dating dud after dud, it’s exhausting to keep trying. However, the key to attracting better men starts with you. If you can change the relationship you have with yourself and raise your dating standards, you’ll be attracting wonderful men in no time.

Mindfulness: Your Secret Business Weapon
As a clinical psychologist and former yoga teacher who works with driven business people, I want to clarify a common myth that mindfulness is mainly about relaxation and “being present”. Relaxation and feeling fully present are certainly positive components of mindfulness practice, but mindfulness can also be used to increase your insight and awareness around one of your most valuable business assets: your thoughts. How to Make a Hard Decision
Do you sometimes get stuck on decision making? While it’s great to have options, there is a hidden burden: the responsibility of actually making a choice! Whether you’re trying to choose between two jobs, two romances, or even two vacation destinations, it’s normal to realize that there are great qualities about both options– and this can make it hard to decide. As a clinical psychologist, I can assure you that thinking carefully make sense up to a certain point, but taking too long on any one particular decision can lead to fatigue, frustration, and poor decisions.
