Enjoying life over drinks and food!

Cheers to freedom and independence, and those who made it possible!

Hello,

Happy belated Independence Day! Freedom and independence mean different things to all of us. On a very personal level, freedom to me is being able to WHAT I want, WHEN I want, WHERE I want, and WITH WHOM I want. That's why I love being able to work exclusively with clients where I really feel I'm the right fit... and also being able to work on my book and my blogs from my laptop on my own terms, writing about whatever topics I choose. What does freedom mean to YOU? Please feel free (in fact, please feel encouraged!) to hit "reply" on this and tell me what freedom means to you! I'd seriously love to know.

Thank you for reading, connecting, and staying in touch! If you're more of a visual person, please do check out my Instagram-- it's my favorite social media platform these days besides of course this newsletter and my blogs!:).

Yours,

BRAND NEW MINDFULNESS BLOG!

Mindfulness: Your Secret Business Weapon

As a clinical psychologist and former yoga teacher who works with driven business people, I want to clarify a common myth that mindfulness is mainly about relaxation and “being present”. Relaxation and feeling fully present are certainly positive components of mindfulness practice, but mindfulness can also be used to increase your insight and awareness around one of your most valuable business assets: your thoughts. Continue Reading...

The blog above is a new one, and it introduces some new ways to think about mindfulness. But if you're more curious of HOW to do mindfulness meditation in the first place, check out the blogs below

How to Make a Hard Decision

Do you sometimes get stuck on decision making? While it’s great to have options, there is a hidden burden: the responsibility of actually making a choice! Whether you’re trying to choose between two jobs, two romances, or even two vacation destinations, it’s normal to realize that there are great qualities about both options– and this can make it hard to decide. As a clinical psychologist, I can assure you that thinking carefully make sense up to a certain point, but taking too long on any one particular decision can lead to fatigue, frustration, and poor decisions. Continue Reading...

False Allegations of Sexual Misconduct: Basics for Young Men and Their Parents

The experience of a false accusation can be devastating to young men, especially if they are up against a legal or academic system that views an allegation as proof of guilt. False allegations can result in everything from expulsion from school, to job loss and legal nightmares– and overwhelming feelings of shame and anger. Moreover, young men and their families may face loneliness or social isolation due to the real or imagined circumstances that their social circle harbors a misguided premise that believing all women is always helpful. Continue Reading...

How To Clean Up The Depressed Mess That Is Your Broken Heart

One of my quotes:

“When you continue to look at someone on social media after a breakup, you’re investing in someone who’s not invested in you,” says Dr. Chloe. “It reminds you of their presence. Instead of ripping off the bandage, you're fixating on them visually, which is like slowly peeling it off and then repasting it and peeling it again and again.”

Everything To Ask Your Partner For An Instantly Tighter Bond

One of my quotes:

"WHAT ARE THE TELLTALE SIGNS THAT YOU'RE STRESSED, THAT NO ONE ELSE WOULD KNOW?" Dr. Chloe recommends this question as a way to get insight into how your partner copes when things aren't going well. Once you know, you can share your own signs and be better, more supportive partners for each other when the going gets tough.

Parental Burnout: What to Know About the Stress, Symptoms, and How to Fight It

One of my quotes:

“If you are a perfect parent that would damage your kids, too... It’s actually helpful for kids to learn that nobody’s perfect and to learn how to encounter and navigate the flaws and vulnerability of other people. And that absolutely includes you.”

How to Be Calm on a First Date

The thought of a first date can be very stressful. You may be socially anxious, think that you’re a bad conversationalist, or don’t understand why anyone would want to date you. These thoughts can cause major anxiety on a date. Staying calm on a date is possible if you get into a positive mindset, have some conversation topics ready, and remember the person is probably just as nervous as you are.

How to Understand Women

If you find yourself struggling to understand the women in your life, don’t worry—it’s not as complicated as you might think. The trick to understanding women is to put your assumptions aside and get to know them as individuals. Whether she’s an acquaintance, a family member, or a romantic partner, if you take time to talk to a woman and really listen to what she has to say, you’ll soon have a clearer grasp of who she is and what makes her tick. You may also find it helpful to get familiar with women’s issues and learn to recognize and question some common gender stereotypes.
